IR Microscope

Bruker , Hyperion 3000

IR mapping can be used to investigate homogeneity across a sample.

For transmission mode samples must be 1-2 microns thick and allow transmission of IR signal. Spectra are typically measured from a 50x50 micron area, smaller areas can be targeted with longer collection times.

Fine powders/small crystals dispersed onto reflective gold or aluminium mirror (or other IR reflective surface) for operation in reflectance mode. Spectra are typically measured from a 50x50 micron area, smaller areas can be targeted with longer collection times.

ATR lens can be used for individual points on a sample.  May destroy the sample surface.
